Celebrate Crete community event Sept. 18

Complete the Community Passport during Welcoming Week

Celebrate Crete event will be held the evening of Sept. 18 at Tuxedo Park, in place of the annual Back to School Picnic.

Doane University and the City of Crete will host 'Celebrate Crete' during Welcoming Week in September, an event to recognize our city, it’s beautiful people and culture. The event is included on a Welcoming Week Community Passport to encourage engagement in events throughout the community.

Celebrate Crete will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 18 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Tuxedo Park, where attendees can enjoy a variety of free food, beverages, music, performances, a dunk tank, games, and much more. The first 500 attendees at the event will receive a free 'Stronger Together' t-shirt.

This vibrant celebration is a joint partnership between Doane University and the City of Crete, made possible through the generous support and coordination of numerous local businesses and organizations. It coincides with National Welcoming Week, Sept. 13-22, which celebrates community, culture, and heritage, while fostering a sense of unity and belonging for all who call Crete home.

(Please note: This event is planned in place of the annual Back to School Community Picnic, which was unable to be hosted in early August due to construction at Doane University's Perry Campus Center and a variety of other factors.)

The first 500 attendees at the Sept. 18 Celebrate Crete event will receive a free t-shirt.
