Officer Kramer receives Life Saving Award
Quick actions at accident scene help woman, children
Mayor Dave Bauer presented a Life Saving Award Citation to Crete Police Department Officer Jeff Kramer during the Tuesday, March 21, regular City Council meeting at City Hall.
An award narrative was read by Chief of Police Gary Young detailing Kramer's lifesaving efforts at the scene of a minor vehicle accident in December. He was flagged down by two children who lead him to a woman having an apparent seizure. The woman stopped breathing and Kramer began chest compressions; soon, she began breathing again and had a pulse. She had another seizure before additional first responders arrived. As medical personnel attended to the victim, Kramer cared for the children and arranged transportation for them.
Kramer's son, Ryan, as well as his fellow officers were present in the audience Tuesday evening. The mayor, council, and assembled guests congratulated Kramer at the conclusion of the meeting. Kramer is a three-year member of the Crete Police Department.
