Busy weekend downtown for 10th annual pumpkin festival Oct. 5-6

Crete's Great Pumpkin Festival events for Sunday, Oct. 6 will be downtown on Main Ave and to City Park. Vehicles should be moved from the festival area before set up starts at 7 a.m. Sunday morning.

The 9th Annual Crete’s Great Pumpkin Festival sponsored by the Crete Chamber of Commerce kicks off this weekend with multiple events on Saturday and the full, downtown festival on Sunday. Drivers, business owners, and residents in the downtown area should be aware of this weekend’s street closures and traffic flow.

The Kids Pet Parade on Saturday morning will start at 10:30 at 10th and Main Ave. and follow the route north on Main with a right turn onto 12th Street to end at City Park. Street barricades will be in place to coordinate the parade route and 12th Street will be closed from Linden to Kingwood for post-parade gathering in the park.

On Sunday, festival activities will take place from 12- 5 p.m. in the downtown area, including Main Ave. and City Park. Set-up will begin early in the morning with street closures in place. Non-festival vehicles should not be parked within the closed areas when festival set-up begins about 7 a.m.

The following streets will be closed with barricades by Sunday morning:

  • Main Ave. from 9th to 13th streets
  • Linden Ave. from 11th to 13th streets
  • 12th Street from Norman to Juniper
  • 11th Street from Norman to Linden
  • 10th Street from Norman to Linden
There will be no parking in the downtown festival area on Sunday (Oct. 6). All vehicles should be moved outside barricades before set up starts at 7 a.m.
