Power outage likely caused by lightning
A power outage early on Aug. 9 affected a portion of southeast Crete, including Doane University. The Electric Department crew believes it was likely caused by a capacitor bank that was struck by lightning during early morning storms.
Utility Issues: If residents have any ongoing or immediate and weather-related utilities issues or concerns (electric, water, sewer, trash or recycling, streets) they should call the Public Works Office. If situations occur after regular business hours, calls to this number will be answered by dispatchers who will notify the proper on-call city personnel. This is the most direct and efficient way to contact the city regarding these issues. Residents can also email the Public Works Office, which will be answered during regular business hours.
