Facility rentals and reservations

City Park bandstand located in the park, 12th and Kingwood Ave.

Contact the Parks and Recreation Office or City Hall directly for rental or reservation information on the following city-owned facilities and park spaces.

  • Crete Public Library has study rooms and a meeting room that can be reserved; information is linked at the bottom of this article.
  • Additional buildings or facilities may be available for rent in Crete. Please contact the Saline County Fair Board for other buildings in Tuxedo Park or the Crete Chamber of Commerce for business-owned event spaces, reception halls, or conference rooms
  • Groups requesting use of additional public park spaces for events should contact the Parks and Recreation Office for more information.
  • Groups using city-owned facilities are responsible for returning the space to the condition in which it was found. This includes disposing of trash and cleaning the areas used; cleaning products are not provided.

Wanek Community Center - 1410 Main Ave

Located north of 14th and Main Ave., the Wanek Community Center can be rented for events. The building has a total capacity of 150 people with available tables and chairs, full kitchen, and restrooms. (Due to current availability, Saturday rentals may only start after 3 p.m.) Rental terms:

  • Deposit: $350 (cash or card; no checks)
  • Fees: (cash or card)
    • $25 an hour up to 6 hours or $100 for the day (over 6 hours)
  • Reserve a date: $50, can be credited to deposit/fees; nonrefundable
  • Renter must provide adequate liability insurance for the event; at minimum, an occurrence general liability policy in the amount of $1,000,000 that names the City as an additional insured; certificate of insurance must be submitted to the City prior to the scheduled event date.
  • events must end by 10:00 p.m. central time and the renters must clean the event space and leave by 11:00 p.m. central time.
  • Alcohol - requires additional contract four (4) weeks in advance
  • Signed rental contract

Renters pick up key the day before or day of event (weekdays only) at the Parks and Recreation Office, Monday-Friday, 8-5 p.m. Keys are returned to City Hall immediately after a rental; the night drop in the Utilities Office dropbox in the drive-thru on the east end of City Hall should be used after business hours.

Crete Carrier Community Room at Crete Public Library - 1515 Forest Ave

Located at Crete Public Library, the Crete Carrier Community Room can be rented for events. The room has a total capacity of 150 people and the following available equipment:

  • 150 chairs 
  • 12 round tables - seat 8-10 people
  • 32 classroom-style rectangular tables - seat 2-4 people
  • audio/visual equipment - projector, screen, podium, and speaker system
  • library patron wifi
  • catering kitchen and restrooms. 

Rental terms:

  • Deposit: $350 (cash or card; no checks)
  • Fees: (cash or card)
    • Weekends and holidays: $150 per day
    • Weekdays: $25 per hour or $150 per day
    • Audio/visual equipment setup: $50
  • Reserve a date: $50, can be credited to deposit/fees; nonrefundable

City Park Bandstand - 12th & Kingwood Ave.

The bandstand in City Park, at 12th and Kingwood, can be reserved at no cost. Scheduling is completed at the Parks and Recreation Office. Picnic tables and trash cans are provided in the park. Restrooms are located on the south side of City Hall, next to the garage entrance. It is suggested that reserving parties place a “Reserved” sign on the bandstand the day before or day of their event.

Tuxedo Park Picnic Shelter - West 13th Street and Tuxedo Road main entrance

The picnic shelter in Tuxedo Park, located between the Sertoma Building (blue and white building) and 4-H Exhibit Hall (large white building), can be reserved at no cost. Scheduling is completed at the Parks and Recreation Office. Picnic tables and trash cans are provided in the park. Restrooms are located north of the shelter, across the road, in the direction of the baseball field. It is suggested that reserving parties place a “Reserved” sign at the shelter the day before or day of their event.

Two-person and four-person study rooms, children’s program room, technology room, and a conference room are available for reservation at Crete Public Library for meetings and small programs. Digital displays are available in each room and various tables and chair configurations are available for the children’s program room and technology room. Reservations are made online through the library's calendar.
