Guided Nature Walk at Spring Creek Audubon Prairie Sept. 11
Crete Public Library will be hosting a guided nature walk at Spring Creek Prairie Audubon Center on Monday, Sept. 11 at 9 am. The one hour tour is open to the public at no cost.
Spring Creek Prairie Audubon Center is located at 11700 SW 100th Street, near Denton and visitors will meet at the Welcome Center.
The library is pleased to offer this program as part of "Welcoming Week," where organizations and communities bring together neighbors of all backgrounds to build strong connections and affirm the importance of welcoming and inclusive places in achieving collective prosperity. Youth Librarian, Maridza, will be there to provide any Spanish translation as needed.
The walk will highlight wildlife of the prairie, including birds and wildflowers. Spring Creek Prairie Audubon Center focuses on conservation of the tall grass prairie ecosystem and the birds that rely on it. More than 200 species of birds have been recorded at Spring Creek, including Henslow's sparrows, bobolinks, dickcissels and grasshopper sparrows.
Binoculars for use on the walk are available at the Welcome Center, but visitors are encouraged to bring their own. Registration for this event is not required. In case of bad weather, please call the library at (402) 826-3809.
