Flooding affects Crete roads

Spring flooding has closed two roads in Crete, Tuxedo Road (main entrance to Tuxedo Park) and South Main (County Road 2250) at the city limits. Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes and continue to use caution and avoid these areas.

OPEN: Highway 33/103 and the highway bridge on the west side of Crete.

South Main is now open to traffic

Update, Saturday, March 16:

Several Crete streets/intersections are no longer flooded. These include: North Main, portions of 22nd and 24th Streets, areas of Pine and Oak from 16th - 18th, 20th and Oak, 21st and Norman, Pine from 7th - 9th, 8th and Oak. Barricades are still in place where necessary and those areas should be avoided.

Updates from Friday, March 15:

Areas of the north section of Crete have flooding and current closed streets/roads reported by the Crete Police Department and Street Department are: South Main, Tuxedo Road., Main from 18th-21st, West 13th from Tuxedo Road to the bridge, 10th from Vine-Redwood, 24th from Linden-Kingwood, 22nd Street, from Oak to Main Ave, 22nd Street between Kingwood and Juniper, 20th Street, Oak to Norman Ave, 17th and Pine, Pine, from 7th to 8th Streets.

Reports also indicate gravel roads in the Crete area are not in good condition, including the north entrance into Tuxedo Park from Idaho Road.

The National Weather Service - Omaha/Valley issued a flood warning for the Blue River in Crete on Wednesday (March 13), when the river rose above its flood stage of 21 feet. The forecast indicates the river will continue to rise to about 25.8 feet through Saturday and should fall below flood stage by Monday evening, March 18.

Tuxedo Road into the park is closed due to water over the road. Flooding has also affected areas and roads in the park.
