CVFD Fire Prevention and Safety
Summer reminder: Stay informed about Red Flag warnings in dry conditions and other weather alerts related to fire dangers.
Winter reminder: Keep snow and ice 5 feet away from fire hydrants for access during an emergency.
The Crete Volunteer Fire Department promotes fire prevention and fire safety by hosting station tours and participating in community activities. Crete fire trucks and ambulances are a common sight at community events for youth and adults to explore. Members also provide standby ambulance services to Crete High School and Doane University athletics and events during the Saline County Fair.
Each October, CVFD celebrates Fire Prevention Week with Crete Elementary School and St. James Catholic School. They host student tours at the station and visit classrooms with fire prevention and safety information. During Fire Prevention Week each school hosts the department for a school-wide fire drill.
