Traveling to Crete, Nebraska:
From I-80 West (Lincoln/Omaha) or I-80 East (Colorado/Wyoming):
- Take Exit 388 south and follow Nebraska 103 for 17 miles
- Turn right (west) onto Nebraska 103/33 and follow into Crete
From US 77 (south from Lincoln or north from Kansas) :
- Take Nebraska 33 exit west 14 miles into Crete (merges with Nebraska 103)
From US 6 (east from Hastings):
- 6 miles east of Friend, NE veer right onto Nebraska 33 and continue 10 miles east into Crete

Saline County Fair, held every July (July 15-20, 2025), is a celebration of local youth, service, agriculture, and community. Crete’s Tuxedo Park serves as the county fairgrounds during this week-long event. More information…
Tuxedo Park camping, baseball and softball complexes - The Crete American Legion Baseball organization and Crete Diamonds Softball Association both hold large tournaments each summer, bringing hundreds of youth athletes, their families, and fans to Crete for multiple weekends in June and July. Crete Heritage Society is a volunteer organization dedicated to the preservation of Crete’s history and the promotion of heritage education by hosting events and tours. The group maintains a 20-acre site in the northwest part of Crete, which includes the town’s first homestead and the Benne Memorial Museum. The Crete Heritage Society also maintains a Facebook Page.
National Register of Historic Places The City of Crete has three nationally registered historic districts: College Hill neighborhood, Doane College (now Doane University) campus buildings, and Crete Downtown District; as well as additional, individually registered historic homes and buildings. View the state list of historically registered places. Tuxedo Park also hosts a Nebraska Historical Marker honoring the park's history as a Chautauqua Assembly site in the 1880s and 1890s. College Heights Country Club is located south of the Doane University campus at 1225 East 4th Street, CHCC is a semi private, nine-hole course that appeals to golfers of all skill levels. Facilities include a clubhouse, putting green and driving range. Men’s and Women’s Leagues, youth clinics, special events and tournaments are held during the season. More information...
Spring Creek Prairie Audubon Center was established between Crete and Denton in 1998. The visitor center opened in 2006 at 11700 SW 100th Road. This 850-acre tallgrass prairie sanctuary offers over three miles of walking trails, native prairie grasslands, wetlands and ponds, wildflowers and grasses, and beautiful scenic vistas with historic 19th-century wagon ruts from a cutoff to the Oregon Trail. Lower Big Blue Natural Resources District efforts preserve and protect the natural resources and projects serve other purposes including providing a natural habitat for fish and wildlife that can be utilized by the public year-round. The Lower Big Blue NRD manages nine recreation areas with opportunities for hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, and many other outdoor activities. More information…
Saline County Tourism Committee is a group of appointed citizens charged with distributing lodging tax funds collected in the county.
